Welcome to AMUSE

AMUSE stands for Astrophysical Multipurpose Software Environment. Within AMUSE different existing numerical codes are incorporated into a single framework. This framework is implemented with Python. It is free to download, use, and distribute.

To help build the community, please join us.

Goal

We want to develop a toolbox for performing numerical astrophysical experiments.

The toolbox will provide:

  • a standard way of input / output of astrophysical data
  • code to support the set-up and management of numerical experiments
  • a standard method to couple codes of different physical domains
  • a legacy set of standard, proven applications/codes/modules
  • a standard way for extending / adding new modules
  • examples to show how everything works
  • documentation

Getting the code

AMUSE uses Subversion (svn) for managing its code.

Assuming you have Subversion installed, the following command in a terminal will fetch the most recent code for you:

svn co http://doctor.strw.leidenuniv.nl/projects/amuse/trunk

Workshops

  • Workshop October 5-7. The first AMUSE workshop will be held in Leiden from October 3 to October 5. We invite researchers and interested parties to this workshop. This will be a very "hands-on" workshop were parts of the AMUSE framework are coded.
